The other night, as I was tucking Amber in, we sat quietly (at her request) and looked at her little Christmas tree. Suddenly, she gave me a hug and in a tender voice said, "I'm so glad you're my daddy."
It was one of those genuine tender-hearted moments of a child's love that made my heart swell. I choked up a bit, and replied with a sentimental, "And I'm so very glad you're my daughter."
We sat and looked at the tree lights some more in silence, and I just tried to soak in the joy of the moment.
"Of course," she said, "I do wish I had a dad who would play tag with me in the house."
Moment over. Happy Thanksgiving!
